Community:Discussions/Eras and Universes/Examples

This page lists examples of the Lowest Common Denominator system.

LCD Options shows the various correct terminology you can use. The lower section of the page

Article Title shows you which option to use when naming articles, if the "XYZ" title is not available. Titles should never use lists or (XYZ in GTA III, GTA VC, GTA SA) or ranges (GTA III - GTA VCS).

Referring to... LCD Options Article title
One game only XYZ in GTA Vice City
Two games in the same era XYZ in GTA III Era
Several games in the same era XYZ in GTA III Era
Two games in different eras, in the same universe XYZ in HD Universe
Two games in different universes XYZ in GTA 2 and III Eras
Two eras in the same universe XYZ in HD Universe
Two eras in different universes XYZ in GTA III and V Eras

In article titles, you should use the lowest single term that covers everything (game is lowest, then era, then universe).

So if a feature (such as wanted levels) appears in multiple games within the GTA III Era, then it should be called "Wanted Level in GTA III Era". With this example, there is no reason to "upgrade" to the universe term, and titles should never use lists or (XYZ in GTA III, GTA VC, GTA SA) or ranges (GTA III - GTA VCS).

In sentences, it is easiest to use the lowest single term that covers everything. So if a vehicle appears in GTA IV and GTA V, the 'HD Universe' terminology is simplest. However, we do need to make sure that somewhere in the article is a list of which specific games the article refers to. Section headings in pages will usually refer to eras, but can use individual games.

Note that if an article refers to completely different things in different eras/universes, then it should be split, instead of trying to have both in one article. One example is the Benson which is a sports car in GTA 2 but a truck since GTA III, clearly completely separate vehicles, so they need separate pages.

The only point to note is consistency. If a sentence uses "Universe", then the rest of the sentence generally would too. You should never say "GTA III Era and HD Universe" in a title - you would just refer to the "3D and HD Universes" to keep it simple.
