I like the second one better, it's more compact but I also like having a separate row for the special properties like in the first one, maybe you know a way of merging the two? I'm not very good at tables so they could probably be done to look snazzier, but I would like your opinion on the idea. I think adding them in the Trivia section of the mission pages would probably be the best. So, what do you think? Is it the start of a good idea or should I just scrap it? I was wondering how some of the Wiki pages regarding [[Eras]] would work if it turns out that GTA V is the same universe as [[Grand Theft Auto IV]] (which I'm assuming it is). Will any Wiki pages about the Era be changed to ''Grand Theft Auto IV, V Era''? or would everything in the fifth game just be referenced under anything about the fourth era? I was just curious because pages like the timelines and [[Years]] will be taking an impact with the release of GTA V. :Of course I'm very excited! This issue has already been discussed to death, so I'll summarise: GTA V will forever be treated as a new era, no matter what.
:This is because eras are not the same as universes - eras are OUR logical grouping of the games (based on the numbered games) to make everything easier to explain.
:For example. If we count GTA V as a new era, and something appears in both the IV and V eras (and if we need to explain that), then we simply have to say [[XYZ in the GTA IV and V Eras]] - which is easy. If we mashed GTA V (and subsequent games) into the GTA IV era, and we needed to show how something was different, we'd have to say [[XYZ in GTA IV, The Lost and Damned, The Ballad of Gay Tony and GTA Chinatown Wars]] - which is ridiculous.
:Firstly, there is no information (at all) to suggest that GTA V will continue from or bear any relation to GTA IV. A lot of people are hoping that CJ or Paddy will return, but there has been nothing to suggest this at all other than untrue rumours. Quite often eras make ''references'' to each other and feature the same city/vehicle/brand names, there might even be a cameo from a couple of overlapping characters, but there's nothing to suggest it'll be any different than the jump between the III and IV eras.
:Eras are based almost entirely on the numbered games. GTA III starts the III era; GTA IV starts the IV era; and GTA V starts the V era. Even if the games are similar, they still start a new era, because that's the simplest and most logical grouping that helps us to explain everything with ease.
:Eras are logical groupings of games based on the new numbered games. Doing that automatically groups games that are ''very very'' closely related (like III/VC/SA/LCS/VCS or IV/TLAD/TBOGT/CW) - with the same sorts of engine, graphics, and closely-related storylines. These games are almost impossible to divide down further. Don't forget that GTA 1 and 2 were grouped as being in the '2D universe' by Rockstar - but we still class them as separate eras because lots of things are different between them and it makes it simpler to organise (it's not very difficult to mention both eras).
:The reason we use eras is to make everything easy. If we did not have eras, we'd have to have enormous lists of which game everything appeared in. So instead of saying [[Vice City in GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas, GTA Liberty City Stories, GTA Vice City Stories, GTA Advance]] or [[Vice City between GTA III and GTA Vice City Stories]] we group it all into the ''number'' of that group of games, into an era - [[Vice City in GTA III Era]].
:So I hope it's clear that, even if the games turn out to be similar (which there is no evidence to suggest), we will still group them separately, which makes everything much much easier no matter what. That means we can easily mention both eras together, and we don't have to list the games separately. Yes, it's not an official way to group the games, but it's based on the official way they bring out a new numbered game whenever they change stuff. I hope that helps.
