:Just to respond to that - there are pros and cons to all image formats. PNG is the best quality (especially for resizing, which we do a lot with thumbnails), work best with icons (and other simple images), and can be transparent. JPGs work best for real-world photos and those with gradients, and are probably have the best compression (so smallest file sizes). SVGs are great but hard to create. GIFs are good only for animations, really. BMPs are huge and useless and we don't allow them to be used on here. So wiki policy is to use either SVGs or PNGs for icons, and either PNGs or JPEGs for screenshots/photos. [[User:Gboyers|gboyers]] <sup>[[User_talk:Gboyers|talk]]</sup> 19:30, 3 February 2012 (UTC)
